Bio:

Juliette Vaissière (b. 1995) draws from her upbringing in the South of France and a fascination with Rococo theatricality to construct imagined landscapes that probe contemporary consumerism and social performance. Her paintings stage crumbling architecture and fantastical animals within lush, meticulously rendered environments, merging satirical social commentary with fairytale imagery. Though entirely invented, her compositions are grounded in rigorous plein-air observation and a sustained study of 19th-century landscape painting, particularly the Barbizon School.

Vaissière received her MFA from the New York Academy of Art and her BFA from the University of North Texas. She has exhibited with Harsh Collective (New York, NY), 440 Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), and Visionary Projects (New York, NY), among others. In 2025, she presented a solo exhibition in Saze, France, and attended the Cuttyhunk Island Artist Residency. Her work is held in private collections across the United States and has been featured in Observer, Time Out, Hyperallergic, and New Visionary Magazine.

Vaissière lives and works in Coventry, Rhode Island.
